Nereidas project @ Green Port 2014: how to proceed towards CO2 compensation

The Port Authority of Melilla, with all the Nereidas’ Partners, ATISAE – C&C Medio Ambiente – CIMNE and The University of Murcia, attended with its stand the “Green Port Congress 2014” Event in Barcelona from 15th to 16th October.

Green Port is always focusing on improving the relationships between ports, its users, customers and stakeholders and well as addressing the environmental and sustainability aspects facing cruise terminals around the world including.

The aim of NEREIDAS is to provide a standardization tool for preventive and compensatory measures for environmental damage caused by transport and port activities: so what better occasion of Green Port to present the project?

Surely two busy days for Nereidas, among the conferences, the networking and the dissemination: each partner infact had the chance to speak and share knowledge and contacts with the other participants (speaker, delegates and persons who were interested in the project).

But the main event was on 16th October: in the WTC Center, right in front of the Green Port Congress Area, Nereidas’ partners has organised their own workshop “CO2 restoration techniques to mitigate climate change derived from port activities – Knowledge sharing and networking Cocktail”.

The peculiarities of this workshop were the interactivity and the dynamism of it.

Nevertheless, let’s see why. After a short introduction of the project, each partner has explained its role in Nereidas showing what they are doing for it, but very in a new a different way.

Thanks to the set-up of the sala, each partner had its own table, that was like a stand; so the presenter drove the participants from one table to another, showing them the objects used by the partners: like the aquarium with the algas or the innovative structure made for the plantation in Melilla.

It was surely an interesting and interactive event and, most of all, a very important step for Nereidas Project.
